Sydney Labour is totally committed to Occupational Health and Safety of its Employees and ensures the health and safety of each individuals expected work environment.

All Sydney Labour employees undergo an in house induction program developed by our very own Managing Director. Who has a past background in Training and OH & S. The induction is designed to meet all basic safety requirements, with a broad industry perspective.

The Sydney Labour Induction covers the following areas:

  • OHS Legislation
  • Worker Compensation & Rehabilitation
  • Work Agreements
  • Work Hazards
  • Company Policies & Procedures
  • Employee Codes of Conduct
  • Day to Day Operational Issues

All Employees upon commencing work with Sydney Labour are issued with a Safety Handbook and are required to complete a short Induction Quiz.

We diligently reference check all employees with their past employers and make sure that all their competency skills are correct and factual.

We obtain accurate Job Descriptions, so as to place the relevantly experienced and appropriately qualified person for the job first time every time.

We ensure that all our clients provide our employees with a site-specific induction. The site specific should at least detail emergency and site evacuation procedures, location of amenities, site safety rules and make sure that all hazards and potential hazards on each specific site are spelled out clearly to each and every employee.

We ensure that our clients instruct our employees in their companies Work Method Statement at time of induction.

Sydney Labour ensures this via site inspections and random site audits.

Sydney Labour has also developed and implemented its own Safety Manual with the thanks and assistance of Mel Crook & Associates.

The Manual incorporates a Site Safety Plan, which Sydney Labour tailors to each client site. This provides our clients and employees with a quick reference file. Which is to be kept on site at all times and can be accessed by both clients and employees. The file contains relevant safety information on all our employees such as skills, competencies, tickets and safe work instructions. Most of this key information can also be found in our Employees Safety Handbook.

 

By meeting our legal and moral obligations under the OH&S Act we continue to protect the interests of our employees and our clients. These systems and other internal procedures have been meticulously designed and developed with a focus of practicality in mind, taking years of industry experience that build safe guards in every assignment upon which our employees are engaged.

This is in line with Sydney Labours’ very own mission statement and provides both our employees and clients with peace of mind, knowing that someone is looking out for them and protecting them every step of the way. This will continue to be further prevalent to industry in future years and Sydney Labour is proud to be at the forefront, setting the industry benchmark for other companies to emulate or at least try to.

Sydney Labour has also taken things a step further by developing an Injury Management System in conjunction with Work Care Emergency. This system provides Sydney Labour Employees with the best available medical assistance. Twenty four (24) Hours, three hundred and sixty five (365) days per Year, if they happen to be involved in a workplace accident that results in a non- life threatening injury.

All our employees are issued with Sydney Labour Safety Cards. This card contains all the appropriate information to activate the service, and the card is created specifically for each and every employee Sydney Labour employs.

If the sites treating First Aid Attendant believes that further medical treatment is required, by following the brief and simple steps on the Sydney Labour Safety Card, a Medic is despatched to pick up the injured worker and take them for immediate medical care with a maximum turn around period of forty five (45) minutes.

Eliminating the need for clients having to arrange taxi’s, or giving the injured worker a lift to the local medical service, or waiting in hospitals emergency departments and having to account the cost of their down time, not to mention the cost of lost productivity and production.
